I have a problem with my Zanussi WDJ 1294 washer dryer. When on wash cycle it will not stop filling with water and eventually overflows from the detergent tray. I have tried the programme selector/timer knob on various cycles and the only cyles effected seem to be the wash ones. The spin cyles work fine with the timer knob moving around the parts of the cycle until it stops after a normal spin. When in wash cycle – by moving the timer knob to the next click the water solenoid shus and the pump starts to pump out; by moving it to the next click it starts to fill again and will not stop until I move it on again. During a wash cycle the drum does not rotate at all.

    – How does the programmer/timer know that there is enough water in the machine to shut the solenoid and move onto the next part of the cycle?

    – Is there a water level switch or sensor ?

_ What do I need to check or renew to rectify this problem?

I have stripped the machine down earlier this year and thoroughly cleaned it internally as well as all the hoses and then renewed the bearings, shaft seal, drum seal, motor brushes and door seal – (wifes bra wire caused a tear in the door seal! – so at the same time decided to overhaul the wearable bits)

Would really appreciate any help / guidance – as the utility room floor has been washed enough times now – other than that the machine has been very reliable.

Thanks for any help / guidance offered. 🙂

Sounds like one of three things….

    1. blocked pressure system

    2. faulty pressure switch

    3. air leak on pressure system
