I need to replace the rubber door seal on a Zanussi WDJ-1074. I’ve got the old seal out, and have secured the 2 clips at the top. However I can’t work out how to fit the rest of the seal.

It sees as though I either need to remove the drum ❗ or need a special tool. Any advice would be appreciated. For example do I need to remove the front panel, and if so how?

It’s not really worth my while getting someone in to repair it. I’m replacing the machine anyway, and have found a new home for it provided it can be fixed.

    Thanks.

All you really need is years of experience, very supple but strong fingers, a few clothes pegs, a little washing up liquid, the patience of a saint and away you go. 🙂 No need to remove the drum or the front half of the cabinet ( there is no front panel as such).

It is one of those jobs that causes much discussion in the trade, the first one is always the hardest, after that its just a matter of finding out a method that suits each individual. Be sure to remove the plug, if you do finally give up, and if the machine is in good order it should be worth getting a good local independent engineer in to fit it for you.

Thanks Jim. Nice to know I’m doing it the right way. 🙂

When my fingers have recovered from the last attempt, and my patience returns I’ll have another go.

You might find it easier if you remove the front piece of the dryer vent, it is held on by just two screws, one through the front of the cabinet and one one the earth lead on top of the duct. Be sure to refit the earth lead if you do remove this.
