ParticipantHi there, quick query regarding an AEG Lavamat 72600 Update.
It completed a wash and then when it was set to start another wash it gave an error message of CD and several of the LEDs flash.
The engineer has been out to it now three times and still can’t sort it.
It had the Door Switch replaced first. Then it seemed ok again.
The engineer then left, so I put it on to wash. After that wash finished I tried to put it on again, and again got the CD error code and the same flashing lights!
(Sorry I can’t recall which one’s that come on, of the verticle row of leds near the drawer I think its the top one, then the third and fourth).
Anyway, I called the engineer and he came straight back and he came over again.
He then came a few days later with a control board (this turned out to be the wrong part!) So he had to come back again another few days later.
So this time (last night) he comes out and replaces the Control Board (is that the right terminology).
Fingers crossed…….AAARGH! Same error code!
He’s now said they’re going to have to arrange for the AEG Engineer to come out and take a look as he’s exhausted his options.
Has anyone here come across this error code before, and the patern of behaviour that my Fuzzy Logic Nutter AEG is displaying…
Thanks, in advance.
David
ps the question is purely out of interest, I’m not fixing it myself, its got a British Gas Five Star cover thingamybob on it.October 18, 2006 at 10:30 am #192506iadom

CD does indeed relate to door lock fault. British Gas engineers are not reknowned for a high level of technical competence on whitegoods, a blocked pump, worn brushes, belt snapped etc OK, anything more difficult and most of them are lost. 😥

When the AEG bod has sorted it please post back the results, it may be of some help to others.

I can’t fault the British Gas Engineer – none of the errors so far have been his fault.
The initial reason he came after 6pm was due to a c##k up at the call centre, and as a result his tech helpdesk close at 5.30, hence he couldn’t call to find out what the error code meant.
Once he found out he ordered the part (the door interlock) and he was good enough to get me a saturday slot so I didn’t need to take time off to fit that.
The part he’d be wrongly been supplied with once the fault came back (Control Module) was again due to a c##k up at the parts call centre.
He’s also been out to look at the machine after 6pm on both other occasions, so outside his normal hours. Thankfully he’s a nice bloke and really willing to try get the thing going again, plus he lives 5 mins up the road! 🙂
I don’t see what else there is to change on the machine to get it going again… Maybe the old Control Module damaged the new door interlock, and hence both should have been replaced at once (could that happen?)
I’ll try find out from the AEG person what the fault is, but may never find out as I’m not going to be around when they come to look at it.

As requested here’s an update.
The 2nd door interlock mechanism was replaced with another new one and its been fine since.
So we think the original control board was defunct, and as such causing problems with the door switches. So even though a new switch had been fitted the old control module knackered the new switch during the one wash that it did.
As such when a new control board was fitted with the new (1 week old) switch (which had been damaged by the old board) then even the new board showed the same CD fault.
So now I’ve got both new switch with the new board and all works well and its done about 8 loads since.
This probably makes chuff all sense to everyone else!
So to summarise (imagine timeline of fixes)
Week 1 : Original Switch/Board = CD error
Week 2 : New Switch (with old board) = Did one wash then CD error
Week 3 : New Board (with now 1 week old switch that had done one wash)= CD error
Week 4 : New Switch (with previously fitted new board) = FIXED!Phew!
