The appliance manufacturer Indesit plans to close a plant in Turin, leaving some 600 people without work, according to several Italian newspapers. The plant had only recently been restructured to produce a new line of ecological dishwashers.
“It hits that the announcement comes from a group that has not never closed a plant in Italy”, the general secretary of the Turinese Fiom comments, George Airaudo – in a crisis moment in which it would have to be to us from the entrepreneurs a support to the economy of the Country.
Also for Low Dario, of the secretariat of the Piedmontese Uilm, said of the closing “it is an unacceptable perspective”. Till yesterday, he emphasizes, “the company it was given for healthy, it planned and it invested for the future”. Indesit, in fact, according to trade-union data, had previewed an increase of the productive volumes of 5% between 2008 and 2010 carrying out investments in a new platform and for a new product.
