PNC 914 001 33100
Complaint of noise and burning smell, back off, top off, looks perfect.
Only thing I can see is that the inner drum looks a bit of centre and the drum and door seal are as manky as any I have seen in a while, using liquids (Ariel) 😉 on 40° washes.
Has anyone seen a drum support fracture on one of these German made tanks. ❓

hi been to a 72600 today making a scraping noise, at first I couldnt detect any movement in drum then I gave it a push up and it moved, took bearings off, they wernt too bad have ordered drum, bearings etc.

Easy strip down on those Jim, wont take long to have the inner drum out to take a look.
Did have an old lavamat 571 failure, (blame on Persil liquid) a few years back and its pretty much the same set up on these so it is possible.Re: AEG 72620 Drum support
Its the second one of these I have seen this week, first was was just a blocked pump, bloody solid jobs, almost as heavy as the Titan. 😀
I think the fact that when the drum is revolving slowly, it is so obviously off centre makes me suspect the support but pulling or lifting it is not conclusive. I have seen Hotpoint and Indesit stainless steel drums distort but I would guess that this one is made of sterner stuff.
I will look up the cost of the bits first then get back to them.

Interesing liquids destroying supports, to be honest I’m not that convinced that it is down totally to the detergents, the reason I say that is some time I left a New tub (Hotpoint ) support outside in the elements by mistake, some months later the tub support had started to corrode, so is it part water/detergent either or both ????

Put it this way, I think most of us can tell what detergent the customer uses when we pull a drum out. It may well be the water that corrodes the casting but I am sure its the liquid detergent residue that traps the moisture ensuring the rot continues 24 hours a day.

I have some old Hotpoint 1850 type machines, well over 25 years old on my plot. All with perfectly sound, original backplate and drum support. The one thing they all have in common is that they are owned by older people who do HOT washes with powder, they don’t like these ‘new fangled liquids’ And this is in an area that has ultra soft water. I change between 2 & 4 Hotpoint WM drum supports each week, all using 40° or less washes, or leaving the economy button/time saver selected. well over 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of these are using liquids or Eco friendly detergents. Therefore it must be down to low temp usage and detergent type.
