I’ve managed to source a new (well, unused anyway!) Maxol Majestic to replace my current like for like on the basis that I don’t think 1200mm high units are still manufactured by anyone.

The supplier has indicated though, that they cannot guarantee the top oven auto ignition unit, which leads me to believe there may well be a problem with it!

Can replacements still be sourced, or is this a generic part please?

Or, as it would appear that this model is obsolete now, perhaps this might not be a good investment after all. Does anyone know of any 1200mm high gas double oven units please? And no, I’d rather not go for two 600 units!!!

    Thanks in anticipation.

Many parts obsolete now,but with ignitions there should be something that can be fitted to repair the ignition should it break, although I must warn you that gas appliances should not be changed from the manufacturers specification.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your point re manufacturers specification but I just thought that an alternative ignition would probably be reasonably generic without compromising the safety of the unit. Like I say, it’s precautionary really, as the supplier has offered a year’s guarantee on all parts except the ignition.

Now all I need to do is find a local Corgi registered installer to fit the oven for me. For some reason, no East Sussex based installers appear on your list 😥

Sorry but this is illegal, as it is a gas appliance and the ignition system is classed as a safety device.
It has to be covered by the guarentee and cannot be written out of the guarentee contract.
