I seem to be getting a lot of rear bearings and drum shafts failing on Hotpoint dryers.

    Yesterday I fitted a 1703080 shaft kit and a 1703666 belt to a VTD00P dryer.

    My question is…

What is the use of the 10mm washer that fits behind the drum (between the drum and the back panel)? It fits like a p***k in a top hat! 😯

The instruction leaflet shows a photo and highlighted comments that this washer will be a loose fit. So they obviously fit it like this for a purpose…

Surely this is likely to bind up and cause future failure!!!

Also the replacement belt is a now a NINE groove width. Surely the extra tension on the belt is going to be worse than the original!

I have no doubt that I will be back to this dryer within a few months 😥

The spacer washer is a great hotpoint idea to try and prevent the drum from touching the back panel.
The nine groove belt should last an extra month.

There is now a modified drum for CTD/VTD machines to prevent fouling on the back panel.

Remember to change the whole kit the felt at the back is wider a lot of eng dont replace the felt .It helps to push the drum onto the front felt better
