Customer came to me for a new pump as machine was not emptying but pump was getting very hot. He fitted the pump and the machine worked OK on the first trial wash with no washing but he had set the spin speed to no spin. He then did a proper wash with washing and it ran OK until the final spin when it tripped the mains. Now all it does on any programme is pump out and has the “Time Saver” light (4th from top) flashing. The error codes on here say this is F01, motor triac. I changed the main module/eeprom but still get the same error code and symptoms. Brushes and commutator look fine. Any thoughts?
    Cheers, Phil

Maybe the motor got wet when he was changing the pump? I would have thought if the board is good and the wiring is ok it can only be the motor. Are you sure he hasn’t messed around with the wiring, both on the motor and the board? He probably wouldn’t admit it anyway.

Check the motor plug & loom, I have found the
conductor brocken in the insulation a few times.
You can still get a couple of strands just about
    making a circuit

Thanks for the suggestions. I changed the triac on the original module, which I have re-fitted and also checked the motor and motor loom continuity.Still no joy so I had to admit defeat and suggest the customer calls Hotpoint. I don’t know if it invalidates the customers guarantee if the Hotpoint technician notices the new universal type pump.
