We have an aged Whirlpool ADP9621 Dishwasher which has been working perfectly normally. However today the green On light is flashing on and off (which it has never done before) and, after pressing the start button, the machine runs for about 30 seconds and then stops. This is all I can get it to do.

Any suggestions what the trouble might be? Thanks

If the lamp is just pulsing steadily, it can indicate a problem with the temperature sensor – this chap here:

However, wiring and computer problems can also cause this. It’s a technically complex machine, so pro help might be your best course of action in this case.

Click the link below for a UKW engineer in your area.

Power off, if you choose to investigate further.

Re: Flashing Light on Whirlpool ADP9621

Thank you for this advice. It appears there is no engineer available in my area at present for this make.

It’s quite old and I see there are loads of new machines for sale at around £180 – £220 so I’m thinking I might put the repair money towards a new one.

Any particular makes in this price range I should look for (or avoid!)?

None of them will give you 10 years of service like your Whirlpool. Some of them will be lucky to do 2 years…… Increase your budget by at least £50 – that’ll take you into Bosch territory. 2 year guarantee as standard and still decent quality.
