ParticipantHi
We’ve had a Zanussi TCS 584 EW condenser dryer for 4/5 years now and apart from the belt snapping ( fixed by me thanks to this forum ! ) it has been ok.
It’s just developed another problem. It seems to run for a few minutes then it seem to reset itself. It suddenly thinks that the program has completed and you need to open the door and close it again to make it start again. It’s as if the power has momentarilly been cut and the control system is starting up for the first time.
There are a set of LEDs on the front. One of them ( can’t remember which because i’m at work ) is normally green when the dryer is running. This LED goes off when the dryer momentarilly stops ie like the power has gone off. It then lights up again blinking slowly until the door it opened.
Does this sound fixable ? I’ve had the dryer apart and checked for lose connections etc. I can give some more detail when i’m back at home. Thanks
Jeff

Check that the door peg is operating the switch properly. It has a metal operating arm on it, which bends over time and may not make the switch fully.
Power off if investigating.

Hi Update. At home now and testing out the dryer. Looked at the door peg – it is at the top of the door. It seems to push a lever inside and operates a microswitch of some sort. Basically I can jam it with a screw driver and things seem to run a normal…..broken but normal.
The problem in detail is as follows. I turn the program to say A, I get a orange power light coming on. This is situated next to the program dial. I then push and hold then start button and sometimes the dryer will start. The green led ( drying ) light will come on and the dryer will run.
After some time ( 1 seconds -5 mins ) the dryer will just stop. Green light goes off and that’s it. start button does not work etc. If I sometimes open and close the door and give it a proper slam shut we *may* get another run out of it.
I’m testing it without any clothes inside but we certainly see the problem when it’s loaded.
Couple of things. Could it be
1) the dryer thinks it’s over heating and shutting down ?
2) the microswitch is tripping and indicating that the door is open ?
3) something in the control box is shorting out or tripping… ( straws/clutching )Everything has been cleaned etc. THe problem does seem to be vibration linked as giving it a good bash seem to bring it back to live.
Any ideas as the wife is looking at a new one and Christmas is upon us. Haven’t got the ££££££ !.

Well – that’s 2 hours of mucking about…. No Joy….
In case we do end up buying one I was thinking about the zanussi TCE7127 which did well in a recent which? report. ( condenser ! ). CHecking the net I can now also see a TCE7227w. Does anyone know is there is any real difference apart from the load capacity (7227 – 7Kg, 7127 – 6Kg )
Thanks in advance
