ParticipantI was wondering if someone could help with a headscratcher.
I have a dc27 dishwasher that had a leak triggering the float sensor. I fixed this (loose impeller on the washer motor) but now I have another problem.
I start any program off OK and the dishwasher fills, the washing starts OK with the wash arms rotating and water circulating, however after around 10seconds everything stops and a buzzing noise can be heard coming from underneath the washer and I think near the back somewhere.
If you leave it long enough the unit stops altogether (I also smelt a burning smell once or twice during the buzzing but this seems to have now stopped)Strangely, if during the buzzing, you open and shut the door, it starts again fine, for another 10secs before the buzzing returns.
This appears to be happening on all programs.
There are no flashing warning lights. Please help, I’m sure its something simple and its really buggin me now!
Thanks,
Garry.

I would be suspicious of the circulation motor……. Opening and closing the door breaks the circuit and remakes it via the start capacitor, which may have enough Umph to kick it back into life.
Power off, for anything other than observation.

Thanks penguin,
Sounds feasable as the initial leak was from the motor impeller and water will have most definately entered the motor housing.
I will investigate this further. Can you dissasemble the motor to attempt to remove any rust etc that may have formed??Thanks again,
Garry

I think that the motor is held together by tie-bolts…….
Diagrams/piccies before pulling apart – there is often only one “right” way to re-assemble them! Bearing at pump housing end is a likely candidate.
