ParticipantHi, my AEG oven turns its heat off regularly and from other postings I’ve read here I suspect it’s because the cooling fan has stopped working (there’s no longer a breeze coming from the top of door when oven on). The clock etc continue to work so power is still getting to the oven. The fan blades themselves spin quite freely if I prod them through the vent opening (though they look a bit grubby – oven 15 months old).
I’ve not taken the oven out to check the cooling fan control thermostat’s condition but from past postings am assuming I’ll need to renew it.
From the pnc and Type details below, can you advise on the part number I need and is it available in your shop? (you recommended a thermostat in past postings but I didn’t see my oven model listed (the B3101) in its models.
AEG Competence B3101-4-B; pnc 944 185 046; Typ 91 AHC 01GA;
S No 42207145I also need a new oven bulb and see you have those.
Is it advisable to take the door off before removing the oven from its housing?
I will disconnect all power before starting!
thanks for any advice you can offer.

This is what you want. The original p/no supercedes to it, so the shop@ list may not have been updated yet.
I’d definitely remove door, shelves, trays etc – anything to make the thing lighter 😀
Stay safe, power off.

Thanks very much Penguin45, greatly appreciated. I’ll think of you next time we don’t have to wait an extra 45mins for the roast to cook!
Part, new bulb (and dishwash basket) now ordered from the shop.
thanks again – and for tip of removing all bits and pieces

hi, just an update. The new thermostat for the cooling fan works a treat – great. So UK Whitegoods saved me a costly call out fee 🙂 For any other beginners like me, it sits beneath a couple of outer casing panels which are easy to unscrew (with power off, of course!). Have a couple of new cable ties handy as the wiring for the thermostat is threaded through these ties as part of the wiring ‘loom’.
The replacement ‘universal’ bulb I’d ordered from the shop as the oven lamp had gone too, is not, in fact, universal as it’s too fat to go in the AEG bulbholder. I’ll get a replacement locally – anyone want a fat bulb?? 🙂
And the oven door went back on fine except I thought I couldn’t lay it down flat (it naturally rested at 45 degrees-ish and there was some resistance to it going further down. I thought the door bottom was being impeded by the oven base itself). So I rehung and rehung… before realising it just needed a push past that resistance! That’s what comes of being a novice… :rolls:
