ParticipantHi i went to a White Knight CL767 condenser dryer today which was reported as leaking and didn’t seem to be pumping the water out so i started to strip the machine to check the pump. Jeez these are a pain in the butt, i took the back off but stopped short of taking the drum out due to it looking like it was going to be a long job putting it back with the belt on it. I ran out of time and it is a friend’s machine so put it back together and thought i would see if anyone has any advice on these? any help is greatly appreciated :hmm:

If memory serves me correctly these are the Bosch models with Crosslees own brand name on and are not an easy machine to work on. Remove the top. Remove the rear element cover. Very carefully remove the siezed on rear fan using levers and a large hammer, then order a new fan 😡 . Remove the rear panel screws including the 3 centre ones for the drum rear bearing (normally very tight). Lift off the panel and leave the drum in place. Bottom left you should see the motor shaft sticking out of a plastic housing, this is attached to the main housing with two metal clips which should slide towards you to remove. The plastic housing will now lift away and the pump is behind this. Hope this is the right model 😳

Wow so quick, thanks everyone i took the back and bottom panels off, managing to get the fan off too and then run out of time before taking the motor housing off so sounds like i was nearly there. Thanks for the advice what did i do before i found out about this site? :lesson: do these pumps not working cause the leaks on these?

Dont remember ever seeing a Bosch branded one of these condenser models. ❓November 10, 2006 at 9:16 pm #194879ace

Went to this version yesterday, fault tripping electric, as soon as I removed the lower back panel water started to run out, this one had a good seal. The moment you switched the machine on, the fan picked up the water sitting in the bottom of the back panel and sprayed it through the heater. Usual problem with with this crap design, impellor dropped off pump shaft, only held on with an ‘0’ ring. Had same problems on both Bosch and White Knight. Always done them from the back, and drum out.

i usually find the pump housing is full of sludge, also the air duct to the fan chamber, in the duct there is a small plastic bridge ( for want of another description ) this is usually loose and needs to be stuck back in after cleaning, advise customer to keep filter and condenser clean regularly

Should the drain pump run all the time the dryer is drying? This one seems to suddenly spurt out a load of water into standpipe drain every so often.

Drain pump normally comes on when the machine does the short reverse tumble. Don’t think it runs continuously.
