ParticipantThis dryer wont start, all that happens is the light comes on telling you the water container needs emptying even though it is empty. Any help on this one please.

check the pipe from the pump to the container is not bloccked. If the pump chamber is full of water then it may indicate a duff pump. just ideas really.

As above, the only other thing to try is the appliance may have gone into overfill – you have emptied the bottle, but the sump is still full.
Solution is to set timer to near end – look for the bucket symbol with the arrow pointing down (and I think the early versions were missaligned so it may be one click before or after)
If yiou hit it right, pump should run.
Only other that comes to mind is the float in the sump (front right corner)goes heavy & shrinks if the use certain body creams, worth a look (the float controls the microswitch that brings on the light).
Good luck!

Last one I had with this problem was caused by customer using Vaseline on the kid’s zits. It solidifies in the float chamber. I thought it was candle wax!

Transported this dryer back to my house, dam thing workiing ok now, do you think the float switch got stuck?.However it now makes a wizzing noise each time the drum changes direction, is this the fan working loose on the motor shaft?. I had taken the the drum out and removed the motor cover in the customers house before I realized access to the float chamber was at the front. 😥
Not a big fan of this dryer I must say.

Spot on. The fan can be replaced as a spare. You will need to take out the drum and then keep digging until you get to the fan housing.
It’s not really that bad a job once you have done one.

Thanks for the help on this one. I have had it on test all afternoon and I have noticed that every so often when it changes direction you hear a cracking noise, a spark comes out the timer and the motor kicks back the other way without pausing. Could this be the cause of the fan working loose so early in its life.

Thanks Chris, feared the worse and you have confirmed it.
Back to the original fault I was called in for (condenser light on no drum action) it looks like I dropped a clanger there as it has produced the same fault on test and as Ali-P suggested all I needed to have done was move the timer to the empty bucket symbol. You may ask why the customer did not realize this. Well I believe the daughter had been using the machine and this may have been the first time the tank had been allowed to over fill 😥
