I am having problems with my Hotpoint washer (wma9p-08148468). First it started making a strange noise when spinning, like a rattling noise. Checked the drum for anything stuck, found nothing so tried machine againand it started ok but after 10 mins the leccy tripped. I’m not sure if this was caused by the washer. I tried to restart the washer but the door lock light was flashing, even though it was shut properly and the machine wouldn’t start. I switched it off at the mains and left it for a while hoping this would solve it but when i switched it on again, both door locked light and active light are flashing and still wont start.

I dont know if the washer tripped the leccy, or whether the leccy tripping has damaged the machine. Is this possible?

Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks in advance.

    Oh dear Lisa!

I suspect the motor may have been the rattling noise you heard? Often when the motor causes the RCD (“leccy”) to trip it can also cause the main control panel of the machine to fuse? It could be quite a costly repair all told. 🙁

If the machine is less than 5 years old you would be well advised to contact Hotpoint direct to get the work done under the terms of their 5 year parts warranty. 😉
