    Hi

I need to buy a new timer unit for my sister’s 2 year old washer dryer. I’ve done lots of searched on ‘Tecnik’ but can’t find the part I need. I assume that ‘Tecnik’ are made by one of the big players but could do with knowing who. Alternatively, if anyone can point me to a Timer unit for a TKL 9290, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks

    Anthony

Tecnik is usually a Siltal machine with a badge on the front – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to find you one, but

Are you absolutely sure it’s what you need? Personally I’ve never fitted one to any of the Siltal machines, and I see a fair few each year.

Perhaps a brief outline of what the machine is up to might save you a few bob?

Re: Tecnik Washer Dryer TKL9290 Timer

    Hi

Thanks for your note. Basically, the machine would stop when it got to the spin cycle. I removed the motor thinking that the motor had failed or that the connections were poor. After cleaning the connections, the machine came back into life for a couple of days and then it stopped working again. I checked the module connectors and all seems to be in order. I then thought that it must be the timer so thinking that it was the switches in the timer I turned the timer fully aorund for a few rotations and it started working again. I then took the side off the timer unit and sprayed some wd40 into it. It then worked well for a week but has now stopped working again.
I guess on reflection, it could be the motor connectors again but I just felt sure that the timer was at fault.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

Did you check the carbon brushes when you took the motor out? They are a consummable item. If the length is down to a few millimetres, they are definitely finished.

If the motor runs during the wash phase and specifically stops at the spin positions, it may well be that the water level control system is blocked, or that the pressure switch has failed in some way. It won’t spin if it’s full, or thinks it’s full of water.

Hope that helps – you need to eliminate all the possibilities before splashing out on the timer.

    Power off as you investigate.

    Thanks

I think that the best bet would be for me to call for some expert help. Otherwise my sister is going to give me a bloody nose for leaving her without washing machine for so long. Should I use the repairs@whitegoods form? She lives in Northfield, South Birmingham.

Click the link below, or the red tool box and type in her postcode. Does it all for you from there.
