    Hi, I have a 4 year old Smeg DWF66 dishwasher, which has operated fine until two weeks ago. The washing programs suddenly seem to have changed, e.g the normal wash (P4) usually runs for just under two hours but now it only runs for 1 hour 28 mins. The wash duration usually only varies by a couple of minutes but this large change means the dishes don’t get clean! The longest program is now the BIO wash but this is still only about 1 hour 40 mins.
    Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I have tried switching the machine on and off and tonight will try the reset operation suggested in topic “SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?”

    Hi.

    It may be that a thermostat has seized in the closed position, causing the machine to advance through its cycle at top speed.

    Usually, the machines wash whilst heating the water; then when temperature has been reached, advance to the next part of the cycle, which is usually timed.

    I’m sure the moderators/engineers will reply soon with more information.

    Underfilling is a good candidate for this type of problem – in it’s early stages, the machine still functions, but can ultimately lead to this:

    Thanks for the advice. I tried using the reset function last night to put it into the test program and then out again and that seems to have fixed it. Normal program P4 is now back to 1hr 56min.
    I’ve still no idea how the programs changed originally but I think I’ll try cleaning out the transfer tube as Penguin45 suggests – sounds like it would be a useful precaution!
