Hi all.. im having a problem with my machine yet again, firstly around 6 months ago i managed to repair the heater unit connections that had came loose and was causing the heater part of my machine to not work.

I managed to resolve that with some input from you guys and girls.

The issue i have with this rarther crappy machine this time around is that it will do everything in its cycle but turn the drum. Obviously this is a bit of a pain in the rear as i now have to get the miss to handwash everything.

She was never a happy bunny before, imagine her now she has to handwash my underpants.

    Anyway, thats another story…

I pulled the machine apart again tonight just to have a quick look for anything obvious signs, but found nothing.

I had this sort of thing happen to me once on a zunussi or how ever you spell it.. but that turned out to be the brushes which i replaced.

i had a look at the motor on this one breifly but couldnt see any obvious signs as to where the brushes are located on this.

I’m guessing this is the problem because when then machine is going through its cycle you can see it looks like it wants to spin when its meant to, you can notice this by watching the drum, it kinda moves a tiny bit then stops… and i mean tiny bit… it seems to want to roll but doesnt look to have the strength.

    Any ideas?

This machine uses an induction motor to drive the drum. This needs a boost from a capacitor to make it start – the little “twitch” from the motor is a fairly classic symptom of failure.

    It’s normally this one:

Check the rating on the existing capacitor, as some of these were 18uf, rahter than 20uf.

    Power off, of course.
