Someone’s asked me about a Miele W360 washer he’s just aquired. It apparently runs fine except when opening the door the back-light to the program knob goes out and comes back on after a couple of seconds.
He says he’s concerned that the door release solenoid is “pulling the electronics supply rail voltage down and that it could stress the EXPENSIVE electronics!2
I would have thought the door solenoid only operates for less than a second and can’t see how it would cause the back-light to go out for a couple of seconds and then come back on. I feel inclined to advise that it’s maybe supposed to do this for some reason as it seems controlled to me – but if I’m wrong …!
Apparently someone at Miele told him that the light should not extinguish. Anyone any ideas?

Could it be just a sticky door lock, in that the contacts aren’t switching over or being allowed to switch over fast enough? I find many simple “door possibility” faults can be cured by the “WD40 into the door lock” trick.

If its the model with load sensor on suspension leg check that for fault. i had a miele give problem that caused facia surround light to flash. load sensor was faulty.
At Miele when door is open no light shouldn’t come ON… because, as in electric diagram, if you push “door open” button “power button” goes in OFF position.
If “power” button is included in program selector than it has switch in door interlock who cuts power when door is open … so I remember…In consequence look on electric diagram which is inside machine for that…
