Hi – I have a Neff double oven U1661 (U1661N0GB/02) after approximatly 10 / 15 minutes with the fan assisted lower oven the fan stops and the internal lights extinguish, I think I saw the element glowing.

I have read on this forum that the fan is likely to have failed or become ‘sticky’, but would this cause the lights to got out? In all other respects (i.e the conventional part of the lower oven) works fine.

Any help on diagnosing the problem would be very welcome.

    Hiya,

That sounds like one of two things, both related. Ifthe main oven stat is faulty it coouldbe overheating and tripping out the thermal safety. Or, it could be that the thermal safety device is goosed.

The fan is an outside runner in this case I’d expect and I’d be looking at the above first before that.

    Hi
Judging by what you have said, I would imagine the cooling fan has failed and because of that the thermal protection stat kwatt mentioned will shut off the power to the appliance until it cools down.
The glowing of the circular element I would imagine will be seen immediately after the oven shuts off and the glow rapidly diminishes.

Best and quickest way to check that the cooling fan is working is to feel between the door and the fascia for some air flow after approx 10 mins of oven activation.

Power off oven if you are to investigate yourself or do as Martin suggested and use the link below to find an engineer in your area 😀
