Participantis it possible to put all your stored info from your computer on to a web server..thus if your computer crashes all your info will be in cyber space where you can access it from another computer…
hope this makes sense as im not that i/techy minded…
ps dont want to put everything onto server, just important documents..

There was a service that did this a while back but I don’t know if it still exists TBH. I doubt the take up was high.
Hard drives are quick, easy and cheap, ludicrously cheap these days, so that is the medium of choice for backup IMO. If it’s only to backup a few gigs of data then I’d suggest a Netgear SC101 with a couple of 80Gb or more drives in it in a mirrored RAID configuration then use the backup util that comes with it to automagically backup your stuff. That way you have three copies, one on your original PC, one that’s network accessible and a mirrored backup of your backup.

Why not just buy a external hard disc and bung it all on there and then put that somewhere safe? Unless the house burns down that should be pretty secure.

I meant to add…
To get any better than that, with off-site stuff and whatnot is a pain to do. Perfectly doable and there’s 1001 ways to securely store data, but my own preference is for the HDD route, mostly these days, using NAS (Network Attached Storage) as it’s cheap and easy.

I Used to use http://www.xdrive.com/ while it was free but I think they charge now. Worked well enough.

or you could just get a usb flash drive under a tenner for 256mb and do it that way 🙂
