ModeratorThis apparently happened the last time it was used on a drying cycle. normal half load. This garment was badly burnt and one other was slightly scorched, no others damaged. The marks appear to be in line with holes in the drum.
I cannot for the life of me see how the dryer elements could cause this damage. I ran the dryer cycle and everything seemed normal. I removed a wire from the one shot TOC, cooled the drum with a cold rinse then set it on drying cycle to see if the water heater was coming on without water and the inner drum remained cool. In any event if the water heater came on without water the inbuilt thermistor should take out this heater. Not seen this before, any suggestions.

looks like spot burns like you get when welding. was dryer not used for some time? might be scale stuck to dryer heater (or even sleeving from blown faulty heater) dislodged when hot and blown into washing this would only burn small patches as it would soon cool. worth having a look inside heater box.

I would have thought so too? But nevertheless the problem is with the water heater rather than the dryer heater I reckon? 😉

A bit of a puzzler eh, Dryer heaters are both fine, machine not that old and in regular but not heavy use, elderly couple. My leaning is towards the water heater but it appears fine and as the motor is working perfectly you would have expected the clothes to be tumbled away from the heat, and why did it only affect two garments. ?
I have as yet never had one of these machines with the water heater on when no water is present, but there is a first time for everything. Customer is trying it again whilst keeping a close eye on it, will keep you posted.
