Guess what? Customer complaining about the noise………. Hotpoint went to it last week and fitted a new front fan – no difference. As their “traditional” repairer, I was sent for.

I assumed it would have the infamous front pulleys, but this one has the skids. So……. removed heater housing and rear fan to reveal four bolts retaining the motor to the plastic framing. Two were loose and the other two could be tightened. Thought about this, and fitted a repair washer under each bolt head and re-tightened. MUCH quieter. Sidepanel now thrumming. Distorted the “V” locating lugs, and bent outwards slightly. Side panel now needed a good thump to locate fully home. Result – damn near silence.

    Customer amazed, surprised myself really.

    Chris.
PS – For the record, this one was tested by G Harrison.
