Hi All
As you can probably tell I am new to this forum and in desperate need of some help either troubleshooting or resetting my condenser dryer.
I have a CRUSADER 37667 Condenser Dryer and have just replaced the Thermostat as they were ‘blown out’. Since doing this, the ‘water full’ light won’t turn off and therefore the dryer is not heating up.
I am hoping this is a common problem and easy to fix. I have looked passed the motor for a ‘float switch’ which I could not see nor feel. After speaking to Creda, they advised me that there was no information on this model and that it probably needs resetting, but could not tell me how to do this.
Please Please Please can anyone help as I am due to move in less than a week and I need to dry all my clothes properly to go into storage!
Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

There is a float switch, very difficult to access, almost impossible without removing the drum assembly. It is just the other side of the motor, you may be able to see the wires going to it, but will be unable to reach it. Switch may have stuck or shorted across inside.
Plug out if you intend to have a poke around inside. 😉

Thank You Jim 🙂 I have attempted to reach this … and I can but I don’t know where on the other side of the motor to feel around? I don’t know what the switch would feel like or look like. Does it have other wires going to it? That is all I can see, other wires going into something behind the motor. I can feel them too but don’t know where to feel for this float switch 🙁

Have been trying to feel for this ‘float switch’ for the past few hours and all I can feel is a long thin metal thing that can be lifted up that is situated behind the motor and leads to the wires I can see behind the motor. Where exactly can this float switch be found? I mean would it be facing the motor or away from the motor? I don’t mean to be too persistent, but this is one thing I need to fix as soon as possible. I can’t afford a professional to come in and I don’t have very much time.

You can only access this switch with the drum removed. It sits on top of the float chamber, the float chamber itself can become clogged with gunge causing the switch to stick. Drum out or call an engineer is the only option I’m afraid.

OK had a look at the drum puzzled ….. so u know what my next question is gonna be? lol …. how do I remove the drum?
In short breezy, with great difficulty and massive effort as it’s near enough a full strip-down. 😕

Thanks all for your help but I have decided to bin the dryer and buy one second hand ….. will be cheaper than getting an engineer out 😀

Not necessarily so, that all depends on the condition/make of the second hand appliance. Also the cost of a local independant engineer would not be as excessive as a manufacturers own service. As an example, if I was to call out to remove the drum to check/replace the float switch you would be looking at a repair of well under £50.00. ( Don’t tell Martin, but it is not Berkshire round here 😉 ) The basic Creda dryer is one of the best on the market in the mid priced range. You also have to remember the one thing that I tell all my customers who glibly say, “I’ll get a second hand one”, the second hand or reconditioned ( alledgedly) machine you are buying has already been thrown out by someone else.
Far better the devil you know, repaired by a good, reliable local engineer.

I know exactly where you are coming from on that score Jim. But I was thinking more along the lines of scouring the classified ads 🙂 I can’t help thinking that it isn’t the float switch that is causing the ‘water full’ light to remain lit. It wasn’t like that before I replaced the thermostat and maybe I have dislodged a wire in the process of replacing this element 🙁 Oh well, if I find the perfect ‘used’ condenser then I will count myself lucky. If not, I guess I will somehow have to do without one for a while until I can afford to replace it with a new one 🙁
