I have just discovered that my new upright freezer (NOT fridge/freezer) is Climate Class N – 16 to 32degrees C.
Our utility room is currently 10C. It never freezes in there, but it does get jolly cold.
Am I going to have trouble? What can I do about it if I am? And why are people flogging freezers suitable for Spain in the North of England (don’t answer that!)

    Hi RT,

It should be okay but I couldn’t guarantee that. Just be careful of condensation on the outer cabinet walls.

They’re all made the same across Europe as it’s cheaper that way. 😉

Thanks for the reassurance, kwatt. As an experiment, certainly only for the four coldest months – one of which is drawing to a close – I have fitted a “bubble wrap” skirt between the rear of the cabinet and the wall, together with an indoor/outdoor thermometer, to keep the system relatively warm. The maximum differential I have seen was 10degrees (8/18), but since it falls to about a one degree difference just before the compressor restarts, I suspect I’m wasting my time. It’s just that there are a few dire warnings of compressor failure knocking about on the net that made feel I just take some precaution short of providing a lamp bulb heater, which really seems a bit OTT energy-wise.
