Can anyone give me a clue to a spare wire in this machine?

The wire (black) is connected to the mains suppressor on the neutral side and the other end is lying next to the pump, not connected to anything. What is strange and worrying is that it has a bare spade connector on the end and is touching the chassis. I have insulated it and tied it back to the loom. 😯
The machine runs with no problem.

Strange as it may seem its the earth wire for the motor why they used a black wire still baffles me.

You have one plug on drain hose closer to drum? (Near to drum ring). Is something for reading water hardness or presents.

Strange allright, the wire was tied into the loom and would not reach the motor, I cannot believe they would use an “neutral” as an earth though 😕

It has to be the motor earth wire. Was the motor earthed? If it didn’t reach the motor it may have been tied into the loom by a previous engineer who thought it was a spare wire?

Never been touched before, I am a bit reluctant to use a neutral as a earth.

Obviously I need a wiring diag, can anyone help please?
