My oven is just under 4 yrs old.

When I switched it on last night I heard an unusual noise and realised that the cooling fan seemed to be struggling to get going.

After 5 mins or so it seemed to kick in and continued working normally. When I switched oven off continued as normal, sounding as it usually does.(When I test the oven and switch it on and off within a few minutes the fan makes a strange whirring noise when off)

Is it dangerous to continue to use the oven if the cooling fan is on its way out(as according to the book its to keep the exterior cool). Clearly the gas is still ok and I could therefore cook.

    Hi LJB,

Gas is a nightmare in many areas. 😕

You will need the cooling fan sorted or you run the risk of further damage. But if any gas components have to be disconnected (other than the supply hose so long as it’s a bayonet fitting) you will need a CORGI engineer to do it so that you’re safe.

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you info on the part.

Not always the cooling fan as some of these fans (though not many) were controlled by a pcb which if it broke down affected the fan speed, also you need the fan working on this model as it helps feed the burners with air.
