My 4 year old Indesit WE14 has problem. The drum isn’t turning when in cycle. I tried with no clothes inside too, but still no movement 😥
All other parts of the cycle work.
There is no error code displayed either.
The most common cause of this fault is worn motor brushes, you would have to examine them to confirm this. Please be sure to remove the plug before attempting to do this. If you are unsure then click on the link at the bottom of this post, we may have someone in your area who can help.
Also worth bearing in mind that the electronics on these machines are some of the most troublesome on the market. 😥
Would it be easy enough for an inexperienced person to change the brushes ?
Or best to buy a new machine. I have read reports of most newish washing machines only lasting about 5 years anyway.
It is impossible for me to say how much experience you do or don’t have. Examining the brushes is not that difficult. With regard to your second comment, I scrapped an Indesit that was 18 months old last week. If you pay a sensible, decent price you should get an appliance that will last 10 to 15 years, if you buy another, £200/£250 cheapo then you will be throwing it away in no time at all.
