    Hi group

I have a Smeg UKFC40RX1 stainless steel fridge-freezer dating from 2000, which has developed a problem with the lower hinge mounting hole on the fridge door (upper door). Over time, the hinge post has ground the mounting hole into a slot-shape, so that when the door is opened, the door slumps a little. Not by much, but the slot is growing bigger, faster, and the plastic trim which fits to the bottom of the door is now cracked too.

If there ever was a strengthening washer in the hole, it is not there now. But judging by the plastic swarf and dust which has been created, any washer would probably have been ground away too.

Any suggestions on what parts would be needed to fix this at minimal cost? Many thanks in advance!

Can you get me a picture of this? It sounds as if the actual cabinet may be goosed, whcih isn’t good at all. 🙁

    K.
