ModeratorJust had a Repairs@ call, to a NEFF split level oven, have just phoned the customer, unfortunately she cannot find the model number. Apparently the front main oven glass door has fallen off. Are these just glued on, if so do I just need my tube of Ambersil?

If its a pretty basic one, then yes they are just glued in, the combination of grease/heat and stupid customers resting things on them cause the glass to fall in occasionally.
I can’t comment on how succesfull sticking them in with golly is, but depending on model BSH charge in the region of £80 for an inner door!
Without the model number i couldn’t advise further but hope this is of some help! 😉

Not the most sensible design though, my Hotpoint built in is glued at the bottom but the handle along the top is screwed through the glass so there is no strain on the adhesive joint whatsoever on my ‘pull down ‘ door.

The later Neff ones seem ok, especially the tripple glazed ones, its alot to expect from an adhesive really and have seen it happen with hygena, zanussi etc over the years. Customers tend to leave heavy roasting trays on them 😡
The older Neff ones had a similar design to your Hotpoint if i remember correctly. ❓
If they do give you the model number, you can always look it up on Quikfinder at bshappliancecare.co.uk 😉December 13, 2006 at 11:24 pm #197855iadom

That link has been in my faves for ages, don’t think I am going to get a model number out of her, will just have to call and take a butchers. 🙂

Silicon glue is your friend. Just remove the door to a another place to allow working, remove the door glasses, and old adhesive. Degrease the inner door area and glass contact areas and run plenty of silicon where the old adhesive was. (I use brown silicon). Sit the glass down again and allow 2 days to cure. Trim excess silicon away with a newish/sharp stanley blade. Reassemble door and return to the customers house to refit door to oven.
You will need a high silicon content adhesive, and not acrylic either.
