Hygena model 8702 failed on Monday with it continually filling, flooding kitchen.
This was due to blockages in the hoses preventing pressure switch from switching. Stripped out hoses and cleaned. Cleaned pump and waste hose.
Wash cycles will complete ok until the spin cycle where it will not spin, neither 500 or 1200, drum just rotates slowly stopping/starting but no speed increase and the pump can be heard pumping no water.

When drum empties the pressure switch operates after approx 40 seconds after draining starts. (Does this have 2 pressure settings? one contact switches under normal operation but if disconnected and blown into 2 contacts switch.)

I suspect control board may be faulty but would like to know how to test before purchasing a replacement (no obvious blown components or tracks). If control board drives the motor why does it operate but not increase speed for spin. Quick look at the board shows a couple of power transistors (or SCR/Triac). If these are used to drive motor, usually when these fail they go open or short which would give no rotation or full speed.

If I need to bring in service engineer I am looking for a contact in the Glasgow/Renfrewshire area and an approximate price.

    Hi nh,

It’s likely the capacitor or, as you suspect, the PCB that’s goosed. Personally I’d be plumping for the cap on that machine first as it’s the cheapest and so the lesser of two evils.

At this time of night, away from the MFI info, I can’t give you accurate costs.

I can tell you that you’re in my patch as I’m guessing that you’re in a PA postcode (PA1-19). Rough cost on a cap is about £70-ish or a module at about the £100 mark fitted and guaranteed for a year. Not exact by far but gives you a fair idea of what to expect.

Parts you can get from Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk no problem or, if you want us to do it for you, you can email repairs@nwar.co.uk or call 0845 226 2507 to get it arranged with Craig as that’s a direct line for him. Just don’t call too early, he’s not a morning person. 😉

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, never considered the capacitor.
Wife needs machine back asap so what would be the quickest option, ordering parts or a service visit?

Yes the post code area is PA6.

I think my wife will call Craig this morning.

    Thanks again

Both parts should be in stock either in Kilmarnock or Exeter so to get either shouldn’t be an issue withing a day or two. Likewise, PA6 is a regular area that we cover and we’re there every day or two normally.
