ParticipantI am having a bad month with domestic appliances. AEG fan oven failed (I fixed that by replacing the cooling fan thermostat, but no thanks to AEG), then the Hotpoint Fridge Freezer failed (gave up and replaced that – the “boss” said we needed a bigger one anyway). Now the wachine machine has developed a fault. No Xmas presents in our house at this rate!
OK the fault. It appears to complete the wash cycle and irrespective of temp setting etc. It stops at the start of the rinse cycle and the yellow rinse light and red on/off light flash alternately.
Manually advancing the dial to rinse seems to force it to complete.
I cannot find the manual at home and it does not appear to be available on the Bosch web site.
Any suggestions as to the fault and/or what to look at first?

Pump faulty or blocked or the cold water inlet valve is faulty?
If you need someone to look at it for you then do please click on the link below. 😉

Thanks for previous tip. I have now hunted down the instruction book and cleaned out the pump trap (a bra wire, a piece of plastic and a small amount of grey crud, but otherwise appeared quite clean). The pump impellor rotated fairly easily although not smoothly (i.e. with a variable degree of restistance as it turned.
Noting what happens in a test short wash:
1. hot water enters at the start of wash cycle and wash cycle appeared to complete normally
2. rinse cycle began seemingly OK
3. machine then stops. Spin/pump light and start light alternate flashing. I think this may be occuring at the end of the first rinse cycle as that cycle has not been running for a long time and when we manually set to rinse, there is soap in the rinse water. Rinse aid remains in drawer.
4. manually changing to programme 5 (extra rinsing) allows in cold water (which appears to be at quite a reasonable rate when viewed through the partially opened soap drawer) and the cycle appears to complete normally to flush through rinse aid, rinse clothes, pump out and spin dry. This fault appears on all wash cycles we have tried.
What is confusing me is that I seem to have all the key actions:
hot water in, cold water in, pump out and drum rotation and spin and both directions and at several different speeds and the extra rinse cycle works, just not the rinse cycle that follows a wash cycle.Any further advice?
