HI all,
My partner informed me of a metal on metal rubbing coming from the tumble dryer… So I opened up the top to have a look… and from what I can make out it looks like the left hand side of the drum (at the rear) is rubbing against the side of the tumble dryer. (Where the back plate meets the side flap.. I was wondering if this sounds like a major problem or maybe just a washer… The drum is rubbing without a load so with a load you can imagine the noise…
It sounds as though the rear bearing has failed. On the back of the machine, dead centre you will see a small cap secured by two screws, remove this to reveal the end of the bearing shaft. It should be obvious if it has failed, try lifting the drum at the top rear and you may be able to see the play in this bearing. Be sure to remove the mains plug first.
