Hi, Great forum, hope you can help me with an intergrated Diplomat ADP8322 Dishwasher that keeps tripping the mains RCD, whenever it feels like it!
After reading other posts I have removed the front cover below the door. There doesn’t appear to be any water/leaks in the tray (bone dry).No error codes present. Except if water is left inside dishwasher due to the incompleted program (two flashes then pause). But after a reset the water empties and it carries on it’s merry way until it trips the RCD again!
When a RCD trip occurs, you have to wait about 1 hour before the dishwasher will show any sign of life (thermal trip?). RCD Tripping has occured on all programs, with anything from 10mins into a program, to as long as 30mins into the program. No smell of burning or anything and sounds normal when it does run. If water is left inside, it’s warm so assuming that the heater is working. Dishwasher is approx 2 years old.

It’s a Whirlpool in disguise. Mains suppressor or heating element would be my favourites. Both can break down under load. Suppressor may well show visible damage, heater would have to be meggered to test correctly.
If you’re not sure how to proceed, please use the repairs@ link for a local UKW engineer.
Power off at all times if investigating.

Thats for the swift response. Do you have part numbers/prices of the Heating element and Suppressor please. The heater element (just after the pump) looks like it might be expensive. As in the header the Dishwasher is a Hygena Diplomat, Model number ADP8322. The Diplomat Disguise worked well, would not have guessed it was a whirlpool 😉
Will have to “un-screw” and dig the Dishwasher out of its intergrated cupboard and investigate further (after switching off at mains of course!)
Think I will check suppressor first. Two reasons 1)The Diplomat Washing machine (bought at same time as dishwasher) had the suppressor go, approx 6months ago. It didn’t trip RCD just made a burning smell. and 2) The heater looks a right pain to get at to megger it out! 😕
Apart from the mains suppressor on the supply not withstanding volts on these machines, are there any other suppressors/capacitors that are known trouble makers (i.e. across recirc/drain pumps)
I’m a bit concerned about the thermal trip being triggered. Is this normally seen if a mains suppressor is dodgy? Knowing my luck it will be the heater element breaking down to a watery earth and drawing too much current too!

Once the machine is out of the housing, access is pretty straight forward – the undertray is easily removable. Mind the edges, you can shave with them.

Update…
I have megger tested the Heater element to earth, which seems fine. The mains suppressor looks ok physically, but must be breaking the supply to the machine when trip occurs. I’ve Decided to change the mains suppressor module first. I noticed that the number written on the module is deffent to the number given in a previous reply.Number on part say’s: 4619 720 79921 I have emailed “the shop” for a quote on the new number. (Would the 4812 121 18158 number be a direct replacement or a compatible part?)

Ignore the 4619 numbers, they are factory codes and not the actual part number. 4812 121 18158 is the correct part, I’ll reply to your email shortly with the Paypal link as requested 🙂

Email recieved, payment on it’s way. Got an error message during the paypal thing saying redirected page not valid. However I’ve got a confirmation email so hopefully all is well.
Got my fingers crossed that the mains suppressor sorts it out.
Different part numbers…. Whirlpool is diplomat… :conf: enough to make your head spin!!!
