I recently went to an Indesit WIDL126 machine that was blowing fuses and tripping the house electrics. I found the module was badly burned but could not tell what part of the machine might have caused the damage. If it was the motor then it would not be worth repairing as a new motor + board repair would not be cost effective. I therefore sent the board to EMW with instructions to inspect the board and advise the likely cause of failure. Obviously I would have been happy to pay a test fee for this service. I heard nothing until a parcel arrived from EMW, containing what looked like a brand new board. I rang them to query this. They said that the type of failure suggested either water getting on the board or a short circuited pump. They said I should put a plastic bag over the board to stop it getting wet. I fitted the board complete with bag and checked the pump. I did a rinse and spin and the machine seemed to be working OK. The customer used the machine, which completed the first wash but failed half way through the second wash. I went back, expecting to find another burnt offering but this time there was no visible damage to the module.
I sent the board back to EMW and it came back today. They say it is beyond repair. Apparently their guarantee on boards does not apply in this case as they think the failure was caused by a short circuit elsewhere in the machine. :rolls:

Yeah!…You can’t blame them for that exclusion clause! Both they and you have tried to solve this problem machine with all the very best of intentions and it goes belly up. 😕

Another typical fiddle diddle WIDdLe tale I guess! 😥
