Machine is a Margherita 2000 A11435uk Advantage. Stuck a new pump on it a month ago but sure the problem is not connected. Set programmer, shut door and turn it on. Door lock lights after a few seconds, door becommes physically locked and thats it, just sits there. Tried it on fill and pump out sections but all the same. Done the reset on stop, that flashes and clears but makes no difference when you set again. Anything silly or a new board?

Well the board will need a look at, just to check the connections and give them a tweak to make sure all is connected!

My sure bet is that the motor brushes are duff, so whip them off and check them out as they will give the exact symptoms you describe! 😉

Went back to above machine today and you were spot on about the brushes thanks alot. I’ll remember that. Can I presume the same on some other machines like Indesit for example?

Yes mate, and often many other machines that are controlled by microprocessors. Whirlpool and Zanussi as well, they all ‘self check’ before proceeding to do anything. If the brushes are open circuit then more often than not the machine just sits there doing nowt. 😕

Make it a GOLDEN RULE when faced with this problem again, just to check the components you know that suffer maximum wear & tear before assuming the Module is at fault? Motor brushes, heaters and pumps the main offenders. 😉

    Live long and prosper…….. 8) 🙂
