    Hi,

I have a Schreiber APP6302 built in fridge (the label also says R600a which I guess is the gas type used) that seems to have stopped cooling. All was fine until a couple of days ago when we noticed the milk wasn’t really cold. I turned the stat up but today it’s still the same, feels only slightly colder than room temperature. The light still comes on when you open the door.

Today I removed the panel at the bottom of the fridge. Behind this appears to be a fan on one side and drip tray on the other, compressor appears to be at the back behind the drip tray. I’ve checked the drain hole isn’t blocked but it was clear. This was about 2 hours ago, I haven’t seen the fan or compressor come on at all in this time.

Any ideas where I should look first please?

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

I’m not familiar with the model off the top of my head and the tech info is in the office, but it sounds as if you’ve either got a stat/electronic failure or, worst case, the compressor has chucked it.

To be honest if you’re unsure at all I’d call in a pro to check it out for you.

Is there an easy way to check the stat or the compressor (like check the volts across them)? Haven’t pulled the fridge out yet so don’t know how accessible these bits are.

If not any idea how much a repair might cost?

    Thanks for your help

The fridge has been off for the last two days. Thought I would turn it on and see if anything happened. The fan at the front and the compressor came on! Now its cooled down a bit they’ve both gone off again. Going to leave the door open to see if they come on again. Do you think this sounds like a thermostat problem now?

    Thanks

    Steve

if the fan is not working its a thermostat.
