I’ve just moved into a 2-yr-old house with all Smeg applicance. All of them are “faulty” in one way or another even though they’ve been looked after.
The oven fan is very rumbly and the legends have all but rubbed off, the hob knobs are loose fitting and the ignition doesn’t always work, the dishwasher door makes a nasty “spring” noise when opened, and the inner shelves are difficult to pull out, and the cultery holders keep falling over. I’ve managed to fix these problems without removing the units, but the worst of them is the noise made by the built-in fridge and this will require rather more work.
It is making a horrendous noise that sounds like a fan catching on something, and applying a bit of a “twist” to the shell of the fridge makes it go away, but it eventually comes back. It sounds almost as though there’s a circulation fan that’s loose on its spindle, and it’s catching on something. Occasionally the noise does die out, and the compressor noise is actually relatively quiet (although a lot noisier than my old Bosch).
It’s quite a faff to remove the fridge, but I plan to do that later this week in the hope that I can get at the fan unit and fix the problem.
However, I wondered if there was any experience here that would make this work a bit easier.
TIA
