our fridge stopped working before xmas and we got it reapired by replacing the themostat… but now it seems to be getting too cold! its even starting to freeze up a little bit… any ideas why this might be happening?

Might be worth checking it has been mounted correctly – sounds as though it thinks the fridge is too warm and so not cutting out at the right time.

…..or you’ve damaged the capillary tube of the thermostat and the gas inside it has escaped? 🙁

    Re: too cold

any tips on how to check if its been mounted correctly?

i didnt fit it myself.. it was fitted by a guy found through these forums!
if its an easy check id like to make sure all is okay without having to call him again unless i get out of my depth!

its a SMEG built in fridge – model number: FR158SE

plus – the wire that comes from the themostat is too long so he curled it up a few times but its still loose hanging.. might that be part of the problem?

Possibly, yes. If the phial isn’t in the correct place then it can cause this issue.
