Hi I have already had a little advice here within the live chat section but have thought up a couple of other queries during my pre-repair attempt research!

I have Rangemaster 110 which has had a couple of new elements and a new fan in it’s 4 year lifetime. Yesterday I noticed that it had taken ages to cook dinner and from experiments since have deduced that it is taking ages to get up to temperature.

I have been advised that this could be a thermostat or a element problem and so I am planning to take out the fan element and test it for continuity.

    Q. If the fan element is dead how come there is still some heat being generated?

    Q. Is there just the one element in the fan oven section on this range?

    Q. If the element turns out to be fine, how do I confirm the stat is dead? Could there be other causes of this?

    Thanks In Advance ❓

If the element is dead there will be some heat off the fan motor running, but it won’t be much at all.

Yes, there’s generally only one fan element in a 110.

Stats, when they very, very rarely do that are nigh on impossible to test as they are dumb switches really simply operated by expanding/contracting gas inside the phial. Usually they either work, or not… constant heat (commonly) or no heat at all (rarely). It is extremely rare to get one to do that.

Other causes, none really on a 110 that I can think of, pretty simple stuff really.

    Re: Partial/Slow Heating – Rangemaster 110

    Thanks.

Had the oven out and tested the element (~20 ohms which was about the same for the new element I have spare). The only thing I noticed was that the foam type ‘gasket’ behind the element fixing plate was split but this may well have happened as I took the thing out! Anyhow I replaced this with the one off my spare and replaced the old element. Oven still getting hot but I’m not convinced it reached temp properly.

Where can I get or borrow a proper oven thermometer to check the temps?

does the fan seem to be spinning at full speed ? How many turns does your fan have (is it a double or triple ring) ?
