I have been told the control panel on my machine is dead. Apart from that apparently for 5 yrs old it’s in good nick.
I’ve been told it’s £133.95 for the part direct from bosch and £46 for fitting. plus vat on top of all that.
Q1) wondering if that sounds about right?Q2) should i look for 2nd hand part and try to fit myself (wouldnt have a clue but i’ll have a go) – how much could i get part for?
Q3) Is buying a new machine better option?
Q4) If i go for new any recomendations up to £250 mark (closer to 200 if poss though). Like the idea of handwash, half load and quick wash. mainly use easy washes though. am single so dont have lots/ need to use too often.
Q5) could i try and flog old machine for parts- what would i be able to get for it and where’s best to do the flogging? ebay? local paper?
any advice much appreciated

Ahhhh!….what if it’s the motor that caused the panel to go in the first place? If the insulation is down on the windings, it’s goodnight vienna to your new board! 😯

i’m a complete novice!!
he did originally think it was going to be the motor and was really suprised when it wasnt.
i did ask him if thought it was worth it on the basis that if one thing has gone then so could another pretty soon. but he did say apart from the panel it looked in good nick including the motor.

Before jumping the gun, has the socket been checked with another product, say a lamp, just to see if you are getting a feed.
Have you checked the fuse in the plug? (13Amp)
The module part is app £110 +VAT 😕 and providing the drum bearings are sound and the motor is ok, IMHO it worth repairing as this machine is quite a better build than some of the newer models and is more substantial.
Module is available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk p/no 268543 if so required, but can be tricky to fit.
Have you tried looking for an engineer from the link below also,as they most of them are quite knowledgable on the Bosch appliances 😀Greg

you’ve lost me.
you mean just plug something else into the electric socket that the washing maching is using? If so i plugged an electric fan in it works fine.
Also when the machine is plugged in there are lights on.I did all the checks i thought i could and this is the best way i can desctibe the state of the machine:
nothing blocking in the trap
propellar thing leading to trap moves with varying resistance.
drum spins – with a bit of resistance ~(same as before)
when try to start normal cycle lights come on, machine fills (and appears to heat water too) , then when would expect drum to start turning just hear click click noises.Haven’t tried looking for an engineer from link as had already had a visit from someone that fixed mum and dad’s dishwasher. It was free callout and free quote.

he said the control panel needs replacing – that that was where the fault lies. maybe i made the assumption that meant it was dead.
so can the lights still be on if there is a fault or not?
he said something about some control panels are made up of separate parts , not the case with this one which is why it needed completely replacing.
only went with him because he was recommended just seemed a bonus that it was free.
really feel this is a bit beyond me now wouldnt have a clue what a carbon brush is. seem to be so many things to check that this could go on for days, it’s already been a week.
all i want is clean clothes 😀
thinking i’ll just get a new one. possibly Zanussi Zwf1221w 1200 Spin Washing Machine. for £214 incl delivery.
am i being foolish?

Quite possibly, you could just need new brushes, costing well under £100.00 inc labour from a decent local chappie. If the rest of the machine is sound it will more than likely last longer than a lower priced Italian machine that will almost certainly have a completely sealed drum. That means that any fault on the inner/outer drum, bearings or even a sock or coin that cannot be retrieved will need a complete drum replacement to repair. Costing more than you actually paid for the machine. I scrapped an 18 month old Italian machine two weeks ago due to the ‘sealed drum’ curse.
