ParticipantI have a similar problem to some others on the forum with a CDA CW494. It starts OK, pumps out intially, fills and completes the first wash up to and including the pump out, but then carries on pumping even when the water has all been emptied; eventually it decides this has all gone on long enough, shuts up shop and starts to beep incessantly. The flashes on the indicator light I count as 4 between pauses. The outlet is not blocked/restricted as far as I can tell.
Advice so far indicates either circuitry or perhaps the flood sensor causing continuous pumping due to an internal leak? Can anyone shed any definitive light? Does anyone know the decode for 4 flashes? Has anyone a number for the elusive CDA? It is less than 5 years old and was here when we bought the house.
Many thanks.

Hi Simon
the fault is showing a pump out failure but can be caused by a PCB failure, also it may be that the pipwork is caked with grease ect which is giving false readings to the pcb.
Previously CDA did allow the transfer of the 5yr warranty but that has been discontinued due to abuse of it.
you would be advisable for a engineer visit.

Bryan,
VMT, having cleaned the ‘main’ filter (easily accesible one) it was quite grease-infested. Since posting, I have read elsewhere on the site that the second (black) filter has a water level sensor; and that this filter is accesible from underneath with a twist fit/removal. Do you think removal and cleaning of this will/may solve the problem? PCB replacement appears expensive! Intend to have a look (power off!)

To put this one to bed, it is fixed! It would seem that your pointer was correct, Bryan. The ‘secondary’ filter (coloured black) which incorporates a sensor telling the system when it has emptied, was caked in grease. By using boiling hot water from the kettle, some washing up liquid and a washing-up brush, I gave it a good clean. Between kettle-fulls, I closed the door and allowed the washer to pump out the grease-laden water before attacking with another lot.
Decided to go for the clean in-situ option as didn’t want to destroy the water-tight integrity of the basin, and it seemed to be effective enough.
Since then, 3 or 4 full loads, no problems and no new PCB.
VMT for the grease-pointer, Bryan.

Simon,
Could you let me know where exactly the black filter is please.
it will be a job from hell to get the dishwasher out.
Is it accesible without removing it from under the work top?
Kind Regards

The water level sensor on this machine is behind a black drid in the 3 o’clock position in the sump. It gradually fills up with congealed fat and other such lovely stuff as people don’t take the heavy deposits off their crockery before shoving them in the machine.
A toothbrush and plenty of very hot water will sometimes do the trick by scrubbing the grid. If it is particularly clogged, it will have to be removed for better access. The unit is a twist-fit from underneath.
Power off if you have to go that route.
