ParticipantCan’t get the machine to spin, even on an empty load. Water pumps out OK but refuses to spin. Drum turns over OK and washes too. I’ve cleaned out the filter etc so any ideas where I should be looking next?

I have a similar problem: the machine won’t spin on the wash cycle, but after the wash has completed, setting it to spin works 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time. The reference talks about an out of balance problem. Is this a sensor I can check / change?

No – load sensing is a part of the electronics. All you can do is ensure that the filter and pressure bottle are clean. Washing large single itmes is usually enought to trip the Out of Balance circuit.

Still can’t get the machine to spin. Does the out of balance circuit reset each time the machine is started?
I’ve:
Cleaned the grommet and pressure bell
Checked the motor brushes – they’ve still got over an inch of movement.
Checked the ‘filter’ at the front – but in any case the machine is emptyIs there anything else I can check?

Yes…in fact IIRC it will trip/reset several times in a spin cycle in attempt to get it to spin. It looks more and more likely there is a problem with the electronics but it would be advisable to get engineer in to confirm this 😉

Problem solved! I’ll post the answer for future ref.
It all started with the machine starting to bounce all over the place – eventually diagnosed to completely worn out shock absorbers/stabilisers. New pair bought from UK Whitegoods ordered and fitted, then this problem of not spinning.
Taking the top off to look at the electronics, I noticed that the drum wasn’t horizontal, the back was lower; the drum had come off the rear support spring with the vibration. Hanging it back on has cured the no spin problem. The reason being it seems, the drum drains from a hole in the centre, but the sensor for being empty of water (the grommet/pressure bell) and so ready to spin is at the rear. With the drum dropped and slightly lower at the back, even though the pump had emptied as much as it could, the surface of the sensor was still just under water, so not allowing the spin. (Also had to reconnect some earth wires which had also been pulled off the drum) -
