ParticipantHi all.
This is my first post here, and although I have read through the many threads, I thought I’d give it one last try before sending my trusty washer to that great scrap heap in the sky (commonly known as the local refuse site).
Machine: Ariston Margherita 2000, AL12UK
Build Date: 1/11/00
Problem: The machine fills, then waits, then drains and drains and drains. (dial continually rotates, LED intermittantly flashes 3 times (at least it looks like 3 times) and then I get fed up and turn it off, put it on the red spot, wait, turn it on, turn it off, then start all over again.💡 BUT, if I put the machine onto a silk wash (in this case, setting 8 – delicates) and set the temp dial to the *, then it runs ok. Unfortunately, there is no spin cycle on the silk setting, otherwise I’d just use it on cold for now. 😥
Things Tried:
❗ Filter – cleaned out (just had fluff and a bit of hair in it)
❗ Pressure switch – pipe removed and blown into the switch, checked continuity, works as expected 1-2, 1-3, (including 1-4 – flood protection)
❗ Pipe to pressure switch – blown into, seems clear, no kinks or leaks
❗ Inlet pipes, both letting in water as expected, inline filters clear.
❗ Drain pump – pumping quite hapily
❗ Drain pipe – not syphoning, so that’s ok.
❗ Thermistor – tested for resistance ok although there is no continuity, is this normal ❓
❗ Heating Element – checked for resitance – it has some.
❗ Heating Element – Checked for voltage across terminals when I expect it to be heating (during the fill cycle and when it waits, just before it goes on to drain) – there is NO VOLTAGE AT ANY TIME!So…… in my purely amature capacity, I deduce that it’s probably the board that’s knackered!!!!!! – anyone any other suggestions?
All donations greatfully received. (you can donote via paypal) 😆

3 flashes indicates the problem is associated to the temperature probe, the wires to it, the heater or even a fault within the main circuit board. Or a combination of the lot!!! 🙁
