Hi
I have had my oven 7 years and lots has gone wrong… with the help of you guys.. looking through posts (lurking) I have managed to find out the problem and my husband has fixed it.I have turned it on today and there is NOTHING. This has never happened before. I have no idea what could be wrong. 😕
I have checked fuse at wall, put new one in, light is on but still nothing. Can someone PLEASE help. I have four kids and use my oven EVERY day to give them a healthy homemade meal.
Is it time to buy a new one?
Thanks in advance

You say the light is on. Is this the oven lamp or the thermostat lamp? My initial thought is that the timer may not be set to manual?

Hi
The light that’s on is the oven socket light on the wall.
The oven itself is totally dead…
Thanks

OK, the terminal block (where the mains joins the appliance) is a good bet as a place to look – they do burn out. There is normally some sort of safety thermostat on these machines which will shut it down in the event of an overheat. Failing that the timer unit or function selector switch may have failed.
A few variables I’m afraid – if nothing has obviously burnt out you need to be able to wield a multimeter safely in order to figure it out. If you can’t, use the link below to find a UKW engineer in our area.
Whatever you do – power off when investigating.

Hi again 😀
Just a small note to thank you all for your advice regarding my oven problem, as a result of your sound advice my husband has pin pointed the problem to the timer switch.
Seeing that another timer switch is on order now and possibly take a few days to arrive, so would it be safe to use the oven without the timer switch connected?…… (Hubby has by-passed it with the use of a terminal block to connect the two wires together) and it works without any problems.
Could doing this have any safety issues?
Kind regards,
Karen

hmmm, well, some ovens dont even have a clock on, and theyre ok
occassionally, customers are happy to leave them like that (bypassed) as long as the conections are tight, and insulated well ( and thats not a comment on your husbands repair skills, it just makes sense, safety wise) , since most people dont use the timer anyway
hope this helps
