Will cutting a sealed plug of a new washing machine to feed it through the little hole in the work top when connecting for a customer cause problems if they call the manufacturer out under warranty

Certainly not, most user instruction booklets include an illustration of how to fit a 13amp plug anyway. Besides often machines (especially integrated m/c’s) are hard wired to a terminal behind the machine so the moulded plug has to go! 😉
