    Set machine to programme, starts up, fills, pressure switch clicks at level, but cold water valve is still filling. Set the programme selector to any cycle (including spin) and the cold valve is energised. 😕 Customer has been using the machine by waiting for the correct water level and switching off the inlet tap. Drum turns, heater functions, pumps out, all cycles work perfectly. Weird hey?
    I suspect the module at the bottom of the machine but hopefully someone else can shed some light on this for me.

    The older ones with Boschs own valves were shockers for not turning off. Cut the power to the valve and they’d still carry on filling…….. If there’s no power, it’s the valve. If you have power, it’s the board.

    088762 for the cold valve (£55 list)
    087184 for the hot valve (£50 list)

      There is power to the valve at all times; even on the ‘X’ marker. Unplugged the valve and the machine functioned perfectly – oh dear, time to break the bad news – board is £140 + VAT cost!! 😯 😯

      Keep a perfectly straight face, tell her what a good machine it is, tell her it’s a rare and unusual fault, then charge for at least an hour and a halfs work….. 😀

      Cannot find that model, but Bosch, unusualy, used to list a part number for the triacs on the w/d boards. Odds on its only one of those failed. Can trace the wiring back from the valve to find which triac it is.

      I used the model off the topic heading Mark (WFT8440GB/01),the other model mentioned I couldn’t find either 😕

      The model number on the heading banner was correct – but on the description – well, erm….ahh….. it was late and…. :rolls:
      I’ll look into that triac failure thingy – shame to write off such a good quality machine. (even though the PCB’s a nightmare to get out!!).

      Next question; what is the easiest way to access the PCB – back or front of the machine? I tried to remove it the other day working from the back and I couldn’t move it much at all due to the short wiring.
      Any tips?

      I usually do from front (no comments Jim or Chris 😀 ) its a fiddle at best and a nightmare at worst.

      What it really needs is to be able to take the side off…….. 😀

      If it comes out, get the back off as well – I’ve never managed to do one from one side only. As the actress said to the bishop…..
