    I have a Zanussi Jetsystem 1200 washing maching which starts an alarm noise and brings up code E140 when trying to start the programme but when I make a second attempt seems to clear itself.
    At the moment it is still a intermittant fault but getting worse.
    Can anyone please tell me what this fault means and how I go about repairing it.

    Problems with the door lock and circuitry. Given that the fault is currently intermittent, it is almost certainly the door lock itself. You need this:

    Do it quickly, if the lock actually blows, it will wipe out the computer board as well and that is expensive.

    Power off if doing this yourself.

    just realized a mistake in my last post. The error code is E40 not E140. is this dianosis based on the E40 Fault or the E140.

    thats ok guys just found a whole lot of other posts with E40 mentioning the door lock interface so I guess thats what I need.

    worth looking at the latch (hook like thingy) on the door itself, it can simply be the latch is not springing back properly so not activating the door lock everytime…………….. power off even though its just the door!!!!!
