    Hi,

We seem to have an unknown fault with our TKD795 dishwasher. It starts the cycle normally but after a while it starts beeping continuously and the start light is flashing. If we turn the machine off and then on again the start light immediately starts flashing again and the beeping starts again when the dishwasher is closed. We stop the beeping by holding down the “start” button for 5 seconds.

We can then restart the programme and the same thing happens again.

A pre-wash cycle alone seems to work OK.

Not sure how much of the cycle has completed, would guess 60-90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Dishes not totally clean.

Any suggestions on what the fault is and how it can be fixed would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks!

It’s a Whirlpool. Count the pattern of the flashes (ie, 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat) and report back.

    Hi,

Tried again. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to the flashes, the frequency of the flashes is perfectly regular, we observed for about a minute and there wasn’t a pause at any point. There are 17-18 flashes in 10 seconds.

One note – we set the 65 degree cycle, but when the beeping started and we opened the dishwasher it showed the pre-wash cycle selected. Is this a diagnostic indicator?

    Many thanks for your help.

OK, a rhythmical flashing with no pattern is normally F1. This indicates a failure in the water temperature sensing circuit, usually the “NTC sensor”. This is the little probe coming up through the base of the sump, under the filters. However, it may also be a problem with the wiring, or the computer board itself.

    This:

is the one for you machine.

If you are not sure how to procede, please use the link below for an engineer in your area.

If you are going ahead, stay safe – power off at all times.

Many thanks for the diagnosis Penguin!

I’ve never replaced a sensor on a dishwasher before — but I’ve located the existing sensor and looking at the picture you posted it looks like I should be able to do it myself.

    Looks like the steps are:
    1. Turn off the power circuit.
    2. Twist the existing sensor 90 degrees to unlock it.
    3. Pull the sensor out.
    4. Connect the new sensor to the wire.
    5. Put the new sensor in and turn 90 degrees to lock in.

One question – in the picture the base looks larger than the sensor and so I’m not sure if I can remove the sensor in this way. Do I have to remove the whole sump casing?

I understand that you can’t guarantee anything here, but just want to check if there’s some basic pitfall you can see.

    Thanks again.

Lethally sharp edge to the undertray is the main hazard……..

Your review above is essentially correct and it can be performed without pulling the whole sump moulding. Just a bit awkward and fiddly, really.

    Good luck,

Great. I’ll order the part and give it a go (watching my hands).

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The NTC arrived today, but we’re having some troubles changing the part because we can’t get the old one out!

Looking at the casing we don’t understand how the NTC sensor can be removed without removing the sump. Basically the base of the sensor is the wrong shape to come through the hole in the sump. Please see the picture here to see the situation.

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/antonyed/Dishwasher

    So it looks like either:
    — We need to remove the sump to change the NTC sensor.
    — We are missing something.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks!

Think “wing nut” – all you’ve got to do is rotate it through 90 degrees from underneath.

Re: Please help – unknown fault with Tecnik tkd795 dishwashe

    Hi,

We did rotate it through 90 degrees (the picture was taken after it was rotated). I was then expecting to pull it out from above (i.e. into the inside of the dishwasher), but this doesn’t seem to work since the base of the sensor is a circle but the hole is only big enough for the wings and the probe.

From what you say it sounds like I should be trying to take out the sensor from underneath. Is that correct?

If so, how do I access the underneath? I’m guessing I have to take the dishwasher out, turn it on its side, and remove the metal plate covering the bottom? Is that correct or is there an easier way?

    Thanks again.

Drag it out, tip it back, undertray off will give you full access.
