ParticipantHi
can any one help with a HPT VTD00 Sn 95313300000 tumble dryer that I visited recently.
Customer had turned the timer knob backwards, and since then the timer
won’t turn off at the end of the prog. it just keeps on going around to do
another cycle.
The dryer still worked fine and the customer used the cooker timer as a
reminder to turn the dryer off
Eventualy the customer forgot to turn the dryer off and it was left on all
night!
When visited the door switch was oc, bypassed this to test and confirmed it didn’t stop at 0.
Fitted timer and door switch and tested timer OK.
4 hours later customer rang to say same fault present!Would appreciate some help on this one.

Did you meggar the machine? I don’t know the wiring for this machine but it might be switched in the neutral and an earth fault may be causing the fault.

grrrr
id go and have a look 1st
the live wire for the timer motor is pretty tight on those, and have been known to pull off enuff to not make contact when the machine gets warm.
dont be surprised if the timers faulty again, theyre always doin that , especially if its the one that screws to the clip on platethats why they changed it to the one that screws directly to the fascia, and i dont think theyre interchangeable
oh, and thats the product code not the serial numberhth

Thank you all for your replies, I am going back to see the dryer tomorow.
The insulation resistance was ok before and after the repair.
I dont have a manual for this model and assumed the timer was wired up
ok in the first case, and copied the connections.
Thanks again,
